Altona Medical Deputising Service Fees & Appointments
Fees and Payments
We bulk bill. Please present your Medicare Card before each consultation.
If you do not have a Medicare Card you will be required to pay a fee. Payment is required on the day of the consultation and can be made by cash, EFTPOS or Credit Card (excluding Diners and AMEX cards). All workers compensation and motor vehicle accident patients are required to pay their accounts at the time of consultation until a letter of liability is produced from their insurance company.
Altona Medical Deputising Service provides care when your regular GP is closed. We encourage you to make a follow up appointment with your regular GP.
Medical deputising and after-hours services provide patient care when general practices are not providing patient services, and operate outside of normal hours during the ‘after-hours period’. These services provide patients with access to medical care for conditions that are not life threatening, but require urgent medical attention during the after-hours period. These conditions may include:
- respiratory infections
- ear infections
- urinary tract infections
- injuries from falls.
Medical deputising and after-hours services do not undertake routine care of patients, as these services are provided during normal opening hours by the patient’s regular GP or practice. Therefore, services must not routinely provide the following services unless clinically required:
- Prescription repeats
- Medication reviews
- Routine immunisations
- Health checks
- Management of chronic and complex conditions
We offer walk in appointments and booked appointments. Appointments can be made from 4:00pm - Monday to Friday; 10:00am - Saturdays and 8:00am - Sundays and Public Holidays.
At times you may experience a waiting period due to Doctors tending to the most urgent medical issues. Booked appointments will endeavour to be seen as close to the scheduled appointment time as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
