Medical on Macquarie Services

We cater to the health needs of all your family. Here are some of our main services.

Many people self-diagnose allergies and self-medicate or change their diets, without seeing an allergy specialist.

Allergy Tasmania is based at Medical on Macquarie to provide accurate diagnosis and management of allergies including asthma, hayfever, eczema, urticarial (hives) and anaphylaxis.

The doctors at Allergy Tasmania are members of the Australian Society for Clinical Immunology & Allergy (ASCIA) and follow guidelines to diagnose allergies. Our GPs provide individual assessments which may include skin prick testing and lung function testing to diagnose allergies. We will discuss treatment options with you which may include dietary and desensitisation.

Allergy Tasmania is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please call (03) 6223 3133 for an appointment.

Immunisation protects children against a range of preventable and life-threatening diseases and infections. Some recommended vaccines are funded by the government. Employers may require health screening. Our GPs provide pre-employment health assessments including hearing, vision and fitness tests. Blood and urine tests can also be arranged. Injured at work? Your medical expenses and wages may be covered under workers compensation and WorkCover.

Our GPs have additional training and experience to assess, diagnose and treat skin cancers. We use special equipment including dermoscopes and photographic monitoring of skin lesions to assess your skin. We can sometimes treat pre-cancerous lesions and early skin cancers with non-surgical treatments. The surgical services we provide include biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy and curettage of superficial skin lesions. When necessary, our GPs will also perform skin flaps and grafts.

Our GPs offer education and advice to minimise health risks while travelling and provide medications and immunisations. Common requirements are prevention of malaria or altitude sickness, treatments for diarrhoea and allergies.

Vasectomies are available at Medical on Macquarie. Dr Srivastava performs vasectomies that are minimally invasive and performed under local anaesthetic so you can drive immediately after the procedure and take minimal time off work.

Vasectomies are $450 and you will receive a Medicare rebate of $195 so you will be $255 out of pocket.

Our GPs help women at every stage of life including contraception, cervical screening, sexual problems, pregnancy, ovarian cysts, period problems and menopause.
