What makes Port Family Practice so different?

Port Family Practice prides itself in our long standing placement in the Port Macquarie community.  The professional and caring nature of our GP’s is well known, bringing new patients to our practice through word of mouth.

Duty of care to our patients is paramount, and our appointment system allows this with ease – giving patients the comfort in knowing they are being looked after by one GP.

Port Family Practice caters for urgent, non urgent, complex, planned chronic care and preventative healthcare. Urgent appointments will be seen by the next available doctor. Please note that depending on the complexity of your condition, you may be referred on to the Port Macquarie Base Hospital.

Please inform our reception staff if your call is urgent. Most issues are best dealt with in consultation with your Doctor and he/she will endeavour to take your call where practicable. At times, your Doctor may be attending to other patients and may need to return your call.

After Hours healthcare is provided by ‘Dial A Doctor’ on 1300 030 030 where home visit services are bulk billed for all Medicare and Veteran Affairs card holders. Home visits may be provided by some of our doctors if it has been arranged. Please discuss your requirements with reception.

Our Centre participates in state/territory reminder systems which inform you of recurring healthcare issues such as annual check ups, care planning and immunisations. Please advise Reception if you do not wish to receive reminders. Patients will be contacted for recall where clinically indicated.

Test results can be obtained in a booked consultation. Referrals to specialists must be made during a consultation and will not be provided from a phone request. In unavoidable circumstances, Doctors may provide repeat referrals or scripts, however this is done at the Doctors’ discretion and may attract a fee.

Patients attending for a consultation regarding Workcover will need to provide a claim number and details for billing. If a claim has not yet been processed at the time of the consultation, the patient’s place of work will be billed.
