Sclerotherapy service in the Central West
News / 22 November 2016
Dr Michael Sobotta has undertaken further training in Phlebology – the diagnosis and treatment of Peripheral Venous Diseases.
The main aim of phlebology is to treat varicose veins – including visible veins, symptomatic veins and the complications of peripheral venous disease.
Dr Michael Sobotta has trained in the use of:
Microslerotherapy for the treatment of telangiectasia and reticular veins (spider veins).
Ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy for the treatment of larger incompetent veins of the lower limb such as long and short saphenous vein incompetence.
Treatment options for varicose veins include compression garments, surgery, sclerotherapy, laser or radiofrequency ablation or glue occlusion.
Costs for the procedures vary greatly. One of the driving factors behind the development of this service was to improve accessibility for local patients at a reasonable cost.
