Mosman Medical Centre Services
We cater to the health needs of all your family. Here are some of our main services.
Allergies
Many people self-diagnose allergies and self-medicate or change their diets, without seeing an allergy specialist. Our GPs offer accurate diagnosis of allergies using reviews of your medical history, physical examinations and testing, such as skin prick tests.
Antenatal Care
The purpose of antenatal care is to improve the health and wellbeing of mum and baby and should begin before pregnancy. Our GPs provide support and guidance every steps of the way. The health of both mum and baby is monitored through regular examinations, screening tests and ultrasounds.
Child Immunisations
Immunisation protects children against a range of preventable and life-threatening diseases and infections. Some recommended vaccines are funded by the government. Routine immunisations for children under four include; chickenpox, hepatitis B, measles, meningococcal AWCY, mumps, polio, pneumococcal, rubella, tetanus and whooping cough.
Chronic Disease Management and GP Management Plans
GP Management Plans are comprehensive, long-term care plans, made just for you if you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, arthritis, stroke, cancer and chronic pain. Our GPs will manage and coordinate the ongoing care you receive from all your healthcare providers.
Diving Medicals
Scuba diving is great fun but also carries dangers. If you’re aged under 16, over 45, or have certain medical conditions, you will need an approved Dive Medical. At our centre we have GPs that are qualified to give these comprehensive assessments. Remember, not every GP can provide these and overseas certificates may not be accepted in Australia. The risks of diving increase with age, so divers over 30 should be tested every three years. Those aged over 50 should be tested every year. Dive medicals cannot be claimed under Medicare.
Immunisations
It’s important to protect yourself and your family from serious and preventable diseases and infections. Our GPs provide the protection you need with vaccinations for children, travel, your work and more.
Iron Infusions
Feeling tired or lacking energy? You may be iron deficient. In some cases taking iron supplements orally isn’t effective or can’t be tolerated. Our GPs can offer iron infusions (IVs) directly into your blood stream.
Mental Health
Speak to your GP if you’re struggling to cope, feeling low or anxious. Our GPs can assess your condition and may provide therapy and treatment. Our GPs also support people with dependence or addiction problems.
Occupational Health
Employers may require health screening. Our GPs provide pre-employment health assessments including hearing, vision and fitness tests. Blood and urine tests can also be arranged. Injured at work? Your medical expenses and wages may be covered under workers compensation and WorkCover.
Skin Cancer
Our GPs have additional training and experience to assess, diagnose and treat skin cancers. We use special equipment including dermatoscopes and photographic monitoring of skin lesions to assess your skin. We can sometimes treat pre-cancerous lesions and early skin cancers with non-surgical treatments. The surgical services we provide include biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy and curettage of superficial skin lesions. When necessary, our GPs will also perform skin flaps and grafts.
Sports Medicine
Perform your best with the help of your GP. We not only treat injuries but offer advice on physical fitness, exercise, nutrition planning and rehabilitation.
Travel Medicine
Our GPs offer education and advice to minimise health risks while travelling and provide medications and immunisations. Common requirements are prevention of malaria or altitude sickness, treatments for diarrhoea and allergies. We are also an approved yellow fever vaccination clinic and provide you with yellow fever vaccination certification in the form approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO). This is essential for travel to areas such as sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America. Please make sure you book in for your yellow fever vaccination no less than 10 days before entering a risk area.
Women's Health
Our GPs help women at every stage of life including contraception, cervical screening, sexual problems, pregnancy, ovarian cysts, period problems and menopause.
