Congratulations to the 2011 GPET Award Winner Dr Aileen Traves for her outstanding achievement and excellence in general practice training.

Recently fellowed Dr Aileen Traves was a Registrar Liaison Officer for TMT for three years, providing leadership and advice to both TMT management and registrars. As a registrar she worked with disadvantaged children and families in her role in the Paediatric Outreach Program which flies into the most remote areas of Cape York and the Torres Strait region. She is also well-respected by the community of Kowrowa, giving her time to hold sessions at the Outreach Clinic to serve the community.

Aileen is a true ambassador of general practice training, being the face of the 2011 AGPT Selection campaign. She makes the time to help promote general practice training by sharing her experiences through speaking opportunities. She now mentors and teaches medical students as a Clinical Lecturer at James Cook University. Dr Traves practices at IPN’s Kuranda Medical Centre in Queensland.
